Midsummer’s eve has come and past and we’re moving towards darker times. At times like this memories and wishes may work as a light in darkness. The memory of Bellavista Franciacorta Cuvée Brut will be my beacon of light through these dark and dreary nights up until EWBC2011 (the European Wine bloggers conference), which just happens to take place in Franciacorta, Italy.

This is a sparkling wine made of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Blanc. The taste is fresh, summery and crisp – acidity meets a well-balanced sweetness, which makes for an elegant and well-balanced wine. Hints of apple, citrus and some exotic fruits along with some notes of bread and nuts – mix all   h lots of minerals – and you have a really nice sparkling wine with hints of summer; great during the heat, great as reminder of summer and a bottle that gives hope for some great wine come October.

We’ll buy a few bottles to enjoy in the meanwhile. We bought a magnum bottle for midsummer but it is also available in smaller bottles.
