Today we stared out visiting Schloss Schönnrunn, where the European Wine Bloggers conference will start tomorrow, just to get an overview of the place. This is indeed a beautiful place which I guess must be even more beautiful in the spring or summer when all is green and the flowers blossom. This will be a great spot for the conference!
The conference will be held in the castle orangery.
We then continued to Schwedenplatz, mainly due to the name, Schwedenplatz = Swedenplace/square, and that I’m Swedish. I’d never heard of it and wondered why it was namned so – at place there was no information to be found – so thank God for the internet. The square where formally namned Ferdinandplatz, as thanks to the Swedish relief efforts after the first world war the square and the bridge was renamned Schwedenplatz in the 1920’s.
While there we also got a first glimpse of Danube and the restaurant we’ll visit tonight at the European Wine Bloggers conference pre-party Share your bottles. Badeschiff Restaurant is built on a barge in the River Danube just east of Schwedenplatz U-bahn station.
In the background is the restaurant!
See you all tonight or tomorrow, for you that are not here in Vienna – have a nice evening
